You had me at “chocolate”… Introducing Zonte’s Footstep

Chocolate Factory | Shiraz | McLaren Vale from Zonte’s Footstep on Vimeo.

Many of you will be familiar with our stand-out wine of last year, newcomer Elysian Springs’ Spring Lamb Syrah, from Australia’s Adelaide Hills.

Well the man behind that, Canadian-at-large Brad Rey, has another project before he set up the Springs, based on producing the best examples of Australia’s regionality (the very unsexy “Geographical Indication” as its known). These GIs include long established big names like Barossa and McLaren Vale, along with a plethora of new regional indicators large and small, from Limestone Coast to Kangaroo Island.

With Zonte‘s Footstep, Brad explores Regions of Shiraz, the MediterraneanSense of Place and Limited Release, and each wine carries an accompanying ‘art story’ charting the journey from Australia’s wine beginnings to the bottle on your table. The range is extensive and constantly evolving, so we started with three wines but early reaction has been so positive we’ll definitely be expanding on this in 2019.

For now, enjoy McLaren Vale’s Chocolate Factory Shiraz, the Mediterranean Canto Sangiovese-Lagrein and the sassy Fleurieu-sourced Lady Marmalade Vermentino.
