EVERY NOW AND THEN we unearth a new supplier that really excites us and this is the case with Château de Saint Cosme, a Gigondas-based wine farmer whose ancient property features 25 perfectly-preserved Gallo-Roman fermentation vats, carved into rock. We’re not the only ones who love Cosme, with Jeb Dunnuck of The Rhône Report saying that he “can’t recommend them enough” and Palate Press hailing them as “one of the wine world’s hottest properties.” Eccentric winemaker Louis Barruol, pictured being eccentric below, takes an old-school approach, with as much work as possible done by hand. His delicious, inimitable range – which includes a one-of-a-kind solera-aged Grenache, an atypical 100% Syrah Côtes du Rhône and a barrique-fermented white CdR – comes highly recommended!
