Named after a set of medieval wooden stocks, which stands in the town of Woodstock in Oxfordshire, England, “The Stocks” Shiraz is Woodstock’s flagship wine. This single vineyard Shiraz is made from 31 rows of low yielding vines, planted around 1900 on a sandy north slope of Woodstock Estate. The single vineyard character is evident each year as a distinctive terroir which may vary slightly in expression annually, but grows in character with bottle age.
Deep, dark indigo in color with mouth watering complex aromas of coffee, coconut, vanilla and fruit, the palate has rich layers of chocolate and mint with spice and warm fruit sweetness, enhanced with soft oak.
So concentrated and dark and deep that it almost growls at you...The alcohol is incredibly high (drinker be warned!) but it is perfectly matched by the depth, clarity of acidity, and the structure of the wine.
