Woodstock ‘The Octogenarian’ Grenache 2015

A red with a lot going on, this lavish Aussie offers up big, rich flavours of raspberry jam, cola, kirsch and nougat, all wrapped in a frame of smoky oak and dusty tannins. Hearty and obvious, with winning charm and smoothness. Beautiful!

From the Blewitt Springs part of McLaren Vale, this sumptuous Grenache is from some of the very old vines — over 80 years old, in case you couldn’t guess from the name!

Try with tea-smoked duck breast, blue cheese or charred steak.

  • Lush, velvety, rich
  • 750ml
  • 14.5% Alcohol
  • Screwtop
  • Drink by 2025

Producer: Woodstock

Woodstock is located in South Australia's McLaren Vale, arguably the country's top wine region for big, booming reds.

Modern founder Doug Collett caught the wine bug while flying Spitfires over Europe for the Royal Australian Air Force during World War 2, admiring the vineyards below as he went and savouring the local wines while on leave - as you do!

Son Scott Collett is the current patriarch with one of Australia's winemaking superstars Ben Glaetzer (Robert Parker's a BIG fan!) overseeing production and blending.

"Sun-drenched style high on alcohol and the raspberry sweetness of super-ripe Grenache...saved from being Port-like by first-rate winemaking and a dash of Tempranillo."
