Grown on the slopes of the Sil River in the Amandi subregion of Ribeira Sacra, Galicia, this Mencia requires a lot of manual handling and harvesting due to the steep terrain. The results are worth it though, the tough, terraced soils and humid microclimate perfectly suiting this tricky grape.
Clean and bright, the wine is cherry red in colour with a hint of violet. The nose is wonderfully clean and punchy, ripe red cherry and raspberry fruit backed up by heady floral hints of roses and violets. The red fruits come through immediately on the palate, fresh and elegant and super smooth, with tons of floral and soft spice action on the crisp, clean finish.
A lovely red if you don’t want to drink white with a paella, other rice or chicken dishes, you can even dunk in the fridge for an hour before serving for added freshness.
