Hortevieille is an organic single vineyard in the Villa Noria estate, on the slopes of Picpoul de Pinet in the Languedoc region of southern France. With views of the Mediterranean sea, the micro-climate is helped both by the altitude and the maritime influence, ensuring slow ripening of this delicate varietal. Grapes are picked at night and fermented in cool stainless tanks, with extended time on the lees after fermentation to fill out the texture and flavour profile.
Pale gold in colour with some green highlights, the nose has prominent citrus and floral notes, lemon peel and orange blossom. Deliciously fresh on the palate, tart citrus balanced by a fine minerality and slightly saline, bone dry finish.
Serve up with anything fishy but particularly mouth-dribbling with calamari or freshly shucked oysters.
