“Yodelling black fruits that glide through the mouth on ball-bearing skates” — 96 pts, James Halliday.
Incredible Shiraz-Cab Franc Reserve aged for a minimum four years between barrel and bottle, and the perfect example of the amazing balance achieved in Kangaroo Island’s cool climate.
Grown in the Islander Estate’s Jumbuck vineyard, the fruit is hand-picked before being wild fermented in French oak. After a basket-press it ages in new French oak demis for two years before a further two years of bottle ageing.
Australian Wine Companion 2020
Deep, youthful colour, the bouquet and palate yodelling black fruits that glide through the mouth on ball-bearing skates, shiraz surely by far the dominant companion. A striking wine with endless layers of fruit, yet isn't the least extractive. 96 points.
