Tempore Generación 20 Garnacha 2019

€24.25
Description
From organic vineyards at Finca Viñalta, these old Grenache vines have grown on dry, rocky slopes for more than 75 years. Fermented using indigenous yeasts from the family’s own vineyards, the wine is aged for 14 months in new French oak barrels.
This is quite sublime. Medium bodied and deep cherry red in colour, it’s like walking through a fruit garden at the height of summer, wafts of blackcurrant leaf, sweet raspberry and dried scrub with tantalising hints of violets, tobacco and vanilla. The texture of the palate is where it’s at though, a glassy minerality supporting soft summer berries, melt-in-the-mouth milk chocolate tannins and afternotes of leather, coffee bean and toasted nuts, it’s pure class.
Decant for a good hour before serving and enjoy with spring lamb.

The Yago Aznar family belong to this region of Lécera in Aragón, attuned to the extreme climate and tough landscape with a shared passion for wine-making spanning four generations of viticulturists. Today the 70 hectare estate is run by siblings Paula and Víctor Yago Aznar and their organically certified operation is predicated on the principle of 'Tempore' or time, or more precisely 'seedtime', leaving the vines to express themselves free of intervention and with the utmost respect for the land.
Here they cultivate exclusively autochthonous varieties of the region, Garnacha, Tempranillo, Macabeo and white Garnacha grapes, with 70+ year old traditional Garnacha bush vines coexisting with younger fully trellised vineyards. The entire estate is organic with a new state of the art winery built in 2002.
