Deliciously accessible everyday Gewürz from its northern Spain holiday home, Somontano.
The vineyards of Bodegas Sommos are located just south of the Pyrenees in hilly, undulating terrain with a continential climate and large diurnal shifts in temperature between night and day. The Gewürztraminer is harvested early, at the end of August, and cool fermented in concrete vats with a small proportion in used French oak barrels.
Gorgeously rich greeny-straw in colour, this is typically aromatic with unmistakable Gewürz notes of lychee, passionfruit and rose petals. The palate is fresh and lifted, ripe stone-fruit and subtle floral and lychee notes cut with a squeeze of lime to provide refreshment on the finish.
This makes a wonderful aperitif if paired with any sort of spiced canapés, or serve up with light curries or tandoori chicken.
