Sìlei Toscana Bianco Vermentino-Sauvignon 2021

18.25

Description

The second wine of father and son start-up Terrescure, Sìlei was named during the blending process when the Valianis struck on the perfect blend—”si lei” exclaimed the pair, “she is” (perfect)!

Predominantly Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc (although we suspect there’s a bit of a field blend going on here), grapes are manually harvested in early September and vinified separately in temperature controlled stainless steel. Both wines are kept on the lees for three months before the blending process described above.

Elegant on the nose with a fine floral bouquet, there’s hints of pear, pineapple and stone-fruit that all come through on a beautifully weighted palate, rich and opulent whilst remaining refreshing and refined, with good length.

Producer: Terrescure

Andrea Valiani is a wine industry veteran of more than 40 years but only started his latest venture, with his son Marco, in 2016. The family start-up currently produces only three wines from 10 hectares of vineyards but has already established distribution in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Hong Kong, Canada and now Ireland.

The plan over the next few years for Andrea and Marco is to add more vineyard holdings, focusing on indigenous varietals and winemaking techniques and styles traditional to Tuscany, like the Governo all'uso Toscana.
