From Rudini’s oldest vineyards comes this 100% Nero d’Avola, aged in French oak for 9 months. Deep in body and colour — towards opaque black on the scale — this is a bit of a beast. Sweet black fruits are to the fore with elements of soy, black olive, coffee bean, cigar box and dark chocolate. Big in structure, with firm tannins and strapping acidity, it needs air time — recommended 3-6 hours in a decanter and it’s even more in its stride by day 2 — but so worth the wait.
Pair with any red meat dish you wish, you won’t overpower it. Magnificent.
