Quinta Seara d’Ordens Vintage Port 2012

48.00

Description

Dried black fruits dominate the nose – dates, prunes, raisins – with savoury elements of black olive, espresso and orange peel, and oriential spices, cloves, juniper and star anise coming through on the pallet. Just wonderful.

Selected from the very best native Douro grapes of the 2012 vintage, this vintage-designated wine was aged for three years in large oak barrels before going into bottle. This is now at peak drinking — dark, intense and massively complex, you could just soak up the aromas and never drink it (although that would be an awful shame).

Enjoy alone or with cured meats, salted almonds and hard cheese.

Producer: Quinta Seara d'Ordens

The Leite family settled in Poiares Seara, in Portugal's now renowned Douro wine and Port region, in the late 18th century, immediately planting vineyards, olive groves and almond trees, some of which survive to this day.

Over two hundred years later the estate remains in the Leite family, with three brothers of the current generation all living on the estate with their families. Chief custodian João Leite Moreira oversees production of high quality DOC Douro wines and continuing a long tradition of producing outstanding Ports.
