Quinta Seara d’Ordens Talentvs Grande Eschola 2015

32.00

Description

A blend of Port grapes Touriga Nacional (50%), Touriga Franca (25%) and Tinta Roriz (25%), from the oldest plots on the Leite Moreira family estate. Grapes are hand-picked and undergo temperature controlled fermentation, then 10 days maceration, before being put into new French oak barrels and matured for a year, with a further year minimum in bottle.

This is a rich and powerful red, opaque and dark cherry red in colour with glass-coating tears, on the nose a heady cocktail of hedgerow berries, dried black fruits, leather, tar, nutmeg and tobacco leaf. This needs 2-4 decanting at a minimum to fully open up the palate, firm tannins supporting masses of dark fruit, dates, blackberries and spiced plum, with afternotes of dark chocolate, coffee and toasted nuts.

Only 500 cases produced, with careful cellaring will age for 15-20 years from vintage.

The Leite family settled in Poiares Seara, in Portugal's now renowned Douro wine and Port region, in the late 18th century, immediately planting vineyards, olive groves and almond trees, some of which survive to this day.

Over two hundred years later the estate remains in the Leite family, with three brothers of the current generation all living on the estate with their families. Chief custodian João Leite Moreira oversees production of high quality DOC Douro wines and continuing a long tradition of producing outstanding Ports.
