A real stunner here from John Quarisa — full, nearly opaque McLaren Vale Shiraz, matured for 18 months in a combination of American and French oak of varying age.
A huge, inviting nose of sweet raspberry, cedar and mocha, the lush palate is generous and spicy, with delicious characters of ripe blackberries and hints of caramel. Intense and long, with a satisfying, moreish finish.
Has enough fruit to enjoy on its own but pairs brilliantly with seared meats too.
"A bright and fragrant bouquet, showing blackberry, bitter chocolate, licorice and fruitcake spice; medium to full bodied, and certainly no shrinking violet, the freshness of fruit and acidity is commendable, as is the value."
"Thoroughly seductive wine... easily justifies its price and makes the strongest argument possible for trading up to get real quality and satisfaction."

"Warmed earth and ripe black fruity aromas. Intense juicy and fleshy black fruits with an earthy terroir palate and a warming finish. Needs a rich and dark gamey dish - venison in a red wine sauce."
