Pinoso ‘Clasico’ Crianza 2019

Bodegas Pinoso was established in 1932 as a cooperative for local growers in the area, based in the town of Pinoso about 50 km west of Alicante. The cooperative now counts 150 wine growers in its membership, stewarding 1,050 hectares of vines. After fully modernising the winery and winemaking practices in 1996, the group set about ecological improvements in the vineyards, starting by designating new areas for organic growing in 1997. Today 50% of the total vineyard area is certified organic.

South of Valencia, hugging Spain's Costa Blanca coastline, Alicante the wine region has a long history, like much of Spain, dating back to Roman times. Monastrell is the dominant red grape here, able to cope with the high heat and usually planted as low bush vines (en vaso).
