Godello does well in Monterrei, the smallest and most southerly DO in Galicia, right on Portugal’s northern border. This is picked in the very early hours of the morning, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and left on the lees for 4 months to add texture and body to the wine.
Pale yellow-straw in colour, this is elegant and enticing on the nose, citrus, stone-fruit and floral characters combining in a gentle invitation. Fresh and smooth, there’s a burst of sweet stone-fruit that develops into floral and spice on the mid-palate, with a fine cut of citrus acidity for a crisp, dry finish.
Serve with seafood, rice dishes or creamy cheeses.
