Description

A really distinctive organic white made from Viognier and the rare, indigenous Verdil grape, grown at altitude in the Valencia region to produce a smoky, minerally wine, fresh and fruity with green apple, lemon and lime flavours.

The soil in this vineyard is white limestone, its stark whiteness on the surface giving its name to the region, Vall d’Albaida. This limestone layer absorbs moisture like a sponge, with the upper layers forming a natural barrier when they dry, restricting evaporation and retaining moisture at the vine roots.

Producer: Neleman Wines

Certainly one of the most eye-catching ranges of wines we stock, Neleman Wines is the inspiration and dedicated missionary of Derrick Neleman, native Dutchman and graduate of biodynamic farming who settled in Spain and found his calling producing "good wine to save the world".

All vineyards are organically farmed, grapes are transported by bicycle and wines are produced vegan-friendly, all part of a mantra of sustainability, protecting the environment and serving nature: "Taking good care of nature not only serves us with good wine today but more importantly with good wine til eternity!". There's even innovation in packaging, with recyclable cork stoppers and wine in boxes, and choosing young artists, designers and architects to design labels. Oh, and the wines are really really good too!
