The woodlark — alouette in French — adorns the label of this organic Muscadet, a tribute to the rare and protected species that lives around the vineyards in which these grapes are grown, in the Loire valley.
We think this is magnficent, so punchy and vibrant you could mistake it for a Kiwi Sauvi. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and matured for 4-5 months before bottling, the aromas leap from the glass, sweet nectarine, pineapple and gooseberry with a backdrop of flint and herbal characters. The palate is zesty and refreshing, cut lime and grapefruit immediately tamed by sweet tropical fruits and a fine minerally texture, making for a finish that’s refreshing and long.
Serve as a refreshing aperitif or with shellfish, garlic prawns or goat’s cheese.
