The woodlark — alouette in French — adorns the label of this organic Muscadet, a tribute to the rare and protected species that lives around the vineyards in which these grapes are grown, in the Loire valley.
Picked just at maturity to keep them fresh, these Melon de Bourgogne grapes are pressed and vinified in traditional concrete vats, then matured on the lees. The aromas are delicate but complex, ripe melon, citrus and floral notes to the fore. The palate is just beautifully weighted, silky smooth with a minerally mouthfeel, sweet melon and pear fruit balanced by tangy lemon acidity, supple and refined on the finish.
Muscadet excels with seafood, try this with grilled fish or garlic prawns drizzled with olive oil and a squeeze of lemon juice.
