Les Moulins à Vent Pouilly-Fumé 2020 (half bottle)

€15.00
Description
Les Moulins à Vent is a vineyard located in the Nivernais region of the eastern Loire towards Burgundy, made up of fine-grained limestone soils, shelly Kimmeridgian marl and clay with flint, absolutely ideal for Sauvignon Blanc and very typical for Pouilly-Fumé. The wine is aged on fine lees with regular stirring for 6 to 8 months to amplify body, texture and flavour.
Pale yellow with green highlights, the elegant nose is marked by a beautiful minerality, revealing notes of citrus, exotic fruits, blackcurrant bud and flint. The palate is fresh and ripe and round in body, full of finesse and lithe minerality, tropical fruits intermingling with exotic spices, with a gentle, refreshing acidity.
Serve up with white fish or shellfish, try with pan-fried scallops on thermidor sauce for the ultimate match.

This cooperative in the river-side village of Pouilly-sur-Loire was founded in 1948 by a handful of winemakers and continues to work with a group of dedicated growers whose vineyards stretch across Pouilly Fumé, Pouilly-sur-Loire and Coteaux du Giennois.
Sprawling some eight kilometres along the well-exposed slopes that border the right bank of the Loire River, the cooperative’s vineyards receive bountiful sunshine ensuring optimal ripeness at harvest.
The group produce an impressive 10% of the total production of Pouilly Fumé and Pouilly-sur-Loire, including 100 hectares of Pouilly Fumé, which is comprised entirely of Sauvignon Blanc. The soil here is varied, but the unique Kimmeridgian marl is dominant, lending more body to Sauvignon Blancs of this appellation.
