Boasts a highly-perfumed bouquet of dark berries and violets, and a feisty, grippy wash of blackberry, stony minerals, tar and cayenne pepper, with a brisk, smoky finish. Phenomenal intensity, structure and precision. The maceration and fermentation are relatively brief, and the maturation is in French oak barrique and vat for 6 months. La Cartuja is made from estate-owned, organically-grown (not certified) Garnacha/Grenache (70%) and Cariñena/Carignan (30%) grapes, cultivated at 250m altitude in classic slate and quartz soils
