The colour, appropriately, is vivid crimson/purple, quite deep for a Beaujolais. The nose is elegant and expressive with a fine mix of blackcurrant, raspberry and blackberry, and fleshy white fruits like pear and peach. Full and round on the palate with mouth-filling fruit, hints of violet and spice, all brought together by fine tannins and a crisp, lively acidity. This is old-vine (vieilles vignes) Gamay, a minimum 40 years old, so rich in terroir expression.
Chill lightly in summer to accentuate the vibrant fresh fruits, or enjoy at room temperature in the winter for the more savoury elements.
