Kahurangi Estate Mount Arthur Reserve Fumé Blanc 2019

€18.75
Description
This Nelson winery’s Fume Blanc is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes sourced from a small selection of their best cuvees that came in over the vintage.
Ferments were carried out in a selection of older French oak barrels and some new oak barrels to add complexity and the resulting wine has ripe flavours of gooseberry and citrus fruit rounded out by toasty earthy nuances, lending it fabulous depth and length. The wine does not undergo any fining making it vegan friendly and it is capable of ageing which will give it greater complexity.

Kahurangi Estate is a family owned boutique vineyard dedicated to producing hand-made, sustainable premium wines from their cool-climate Nelson, South Island location. Greg and Amanda Day moved back home to New Zealand with their young family in 1998, to purchase the existing Vineyard in Upper Moutere and develop the Kahurangi brand.
Along with their daughter Samantha as part of the management team, they have focused on cultivation of Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc amongst others from their vineyards which have the oldest commercial vines in the South Island. They bottles some of their reserve wines in honour of Mount Arthur, one of the highest mountains in the Kahurangi National Park. Standing at 1,795 metres above sea level it makes a majestic backdrop to the Kahurangi Estate vineyard.
Chief wine-maker Neil Todd has been with Kahurangi Estate since April 2000, ably assisted by Burgundy specialist and oenologist Emmanuelle David, and all efforts combined have resulted in Kahurangi winning international acclaim and critic's awards for their range of estate bottled and Mount Arthur special selection wines alike.

Reviews
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Beautifully composed and styled, this oak-aged sauvignon shows lifted aromas of nectarine, green rockmelon, snow pea and lime zest aromas with a hint of oatmeal complexity. The palate is wonderfully weighted and intensely flavoured, delivering loads of tasty flavours backed by bright acidity"
