Villa Noria ‘Infusions’ Rosé Gris Pét-Nat 2022

20% off France

Grenache Gris is a pinkish-grey relative of the much better known Grenache Noir or red Grenache grape, and grown almost exclusively in the south of France. Here it’s used to produce a natural rosé, with a pétillant bubble following fermentation in the bottle (i.e. it’s slightly fizzy!).

Grapes are harvested at night to preserve freshness and avoid any form of oxidation. Natural fermentation occurs at low temperatures and without the addition of sulphites or yeast, with the wine bottled early so fermentation completes in the bottle to produce a natural pétillant effervescence (trendily known as pét-nat).

Pale coppery-pink in colour, there’s intense notes of baked apple, quince and fig, with a hint of vanilla — think apple crumble and custard! There’s a good fizz, enough to tickle the taste buds and reveal more of those baked apple/cider notes, a nice citrussy freshness and a gorgeously creamy mouthfeel that lingers long after the finish.

Perfect as an aperitif or even an after-dinner wine to pair with creamy desserts like crème brûlée.

Producer: Villa Noria

Founded in 2010, Villa Noria is only a young slip of a thing but as wholesomely ethical, energetic, enthusiastic and innovative as any producer we've come across. It's the vision realised of Cédric Arnaud and Fabien Gross, both acquiring their interest in winemaking from their grandparents and coming together with different but complementing skill-sets, to establish the winery and five areas of vineyards with distinctive and differing terroirs..

Every vineyard is under organic cultivation and adheres to France's high environmental value (HVE) standards, planting disease resistant varieties, promoting biodiversity, protecting water resources and conserving the landscape. The vines, nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the foothills of the Larzac plateau give elegant wines from the noble grape varieties including Picpoul, Sauvignon Blanc, Clairette, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. There's experimentation with natural winemaking and orange wines, and innovation with developing non-alcoholic grape-based drinks that you'd actually choose to drink. We can't wait to see what comes next.
