The jewel in the vineyards of this Tuscan family farm, Sangiovese is aged in a mix of oak barriques and large chestnut barrels for 18 months, followed by a minimum six months in bottle for complete maturation.
Complex and full-bodied, the powerful nose displays plum pudding, black cherry and ripe mulberry, permeated by heady notes of roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate. The rich palate is smooth, velvety and well-balanced, the tannins having softened and well-integrated acidity providing a necessary cleansing tang on the finish.
With responsible cellaring this will continue to develop for up to 10 years from vintage.
