Guy & Yvan Dufouleur ‘Damoiselle Huguette’ Blanc Hautes-Cotes de Nuit 2018

Old vine (50 years+) blend of Chardonnay (90%) and Pinot Blanc from the plateau of Les Dames Huguette, a single plot overlooking Nuits-Saint-Georges.

The grapes are fermented for a month in oak (one-third new), with a further ten months in barrel before assembly and bottling. The result is a luxurious, intense wine of great complexity, displaying baked apple, candied lemon, honeysuckle, almonds and hazelnuts, full and ripe on the palate with amazing length.

Serve at 12 to 13°C and enjoy up to 5 years from vintage.

Producer: Domaine Guy & Yvan Dufouleur

The Dufouleurs have been around a bit in Burgundy, with 14 generations involved in growing and winemaking going back to Gilles Dufouleur in 1596. Father and son Guy and Yvan, 13th and 14th generation respectively, are the current custodians, with vineyard holdings amounting to 27 hectares over eleven appellations across the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits.

Despite the 400 years + of history, these are modern wines, with head winemaker Yvan utilizing modern techniques and technology to complement generations of knowledge passed down. The wines are fresh and accessible when young, accentuating the immaculate fruit. Vineyards have been organic since 2000, with yields and quality stringently controlled by green harvesting and hand sorting of grapes after picking.
