Goru 38 Barrels 2018

Description

Full-on stuff that’s ripe, sweet and long with unreal flavours of blackberry, toffee and liquorice, with and delicious flickers of orange fudge and clove.  A blend of Monastrell, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine enjoyed 28 days maceration to extract every ounce of colour and flavour, and the young wine is finished then for 12 months in new French and American oak barrels. So big, powerful and smooth – an amazing wine!

Almost a meal in itself but if you’re looking to match with grub go for something rich and meaty like sticky ribs or duck in plum sauce.

Producer: Ego Bodegas

The boutique winery Ego Bodegas is located just a few kilometres from the historic city centre of Jumilla in Murcia, South East Spain. Proprietor-winemaker Santos Ortíz decided a little over a decade ago to create a state of the art modern winery to showcase the centuries old native grape of the region, Monastrell, and create a range of accessible wines from other varietals such as Syrah, Petit Verdot and white grapes Muscadet and Chardonnay which surprisingly flourish in this dry and arid region.
