Description
The GMH Meritage is a blend of four of the red varieties grown in the Bordeaux region of France: Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec.
Meritage (pronounced as you would heritage, although you can pronounce it like the American garage if you want to sound like an eejit) is an international term for a Bordeaux blend.
Medium bodied and ruby-garnet in appearance, the nose is an attractive mix of bright red fruits — plum, raspberry, and redcurrant — with tons of herb and spice action going on as well. The palate is ripe and juicy with masses of berry and plum flavours, framed by fine tannins and a slight piquancy, and more savoury peppery spice notes on the finish.
Benefits from a short decant, even half an hour, just to open up the aroma profile and soften the tannins a bit, this is a versatile food wine that goes particularly well with Mediterranean dishes.

Part of the Hardy wine dynasty in Australia, Geoff Hardy broke free of the family business to purchase his first vineyard in McLaren Vale in 1980. A few years later, Geoff found the perfect location for producing cool climate grapes in the Kuitpo region of the Adelaide Hills. He planted the first vineyard there in 1987 and named it K1 since this unique site was the first commercial planting of vines in Kuitpo. Since then Geoff has been involved in the planting of more than 3,000 hectares of vines and has consulted to more than 200 different vineyards in Australia, France and Italy.
In 2004, Geoff launched the Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy and GMH ranges of wine. Together with K1 Wines, these brands now make up Wines by Geoff Hardy and continue the 160-year old family tradition of pushing the boundaries of Australian viticulture. Winestate Magazine, Australia's leading wine industry publication, named Wines By Geoff Hardy Australian Wine Company of the Year in both 2012 and 2014, and senior winemaker Shane Harris Australian Winemaker of the Year in 2012, 2018 and 2020, the only triple winner of this coveted award.
