Folonari Trebbiano del Rubicone 2020

12.75

Description

We love Trebbiano, one of the world’s most under-appreciated grapes in our opinion!

Grown in the Ravenna district of Emilia-Romagna on the Adriatic sea, this is typically pale straw in colour, with a light, elegant profile on the nose, delicately floral with hints of melon, guava and lemon peel. Crisp and refreshing, there’s a fine minerality that allows the elegant fruit profile to reveal itself in the mouth, soft pear and melon with hints of honeysuckle and orange blossom, and a twist of citrus to clean things up on the finish.

Works well as a refreshing aperitif but comes into its own with calamari or shellfish.

Folonari is a range of wines from the Veneto region of north-east Italy, founded in 1825 by Francesco Folonari, a shop keeper from Edolo, near Milan. Francesco started sourcing parcels of wine for his shop customers, trying to provide the best quality possible at a low price. Word got out, demand grew and the Folonari winery was born. Today winemaker Marco Galeazzo carries the legacy and mission of Folonari, to continue delivering classic Italian varietals at an everyday price point.
