Old vine Mencía roble, from the 90 year old El Valao vineyard.
Carefully hand-harvested from these near century-old vines, grapes are hand sorted then fermented in small steel tanks before going into French oak barrels for 6-8 months.
Rich in colour, dark ruby red with violet tears, this is warm and welcoming on the nose, sweet red berry aromas with elevated floral notes, hints of rosemary, mint and vanilla. Ripe and full-bodied, black plum and cherry open up on a lithe, minerally palate, fresh fruits giving way to dried fruits and more savoury elements, hints of fruitcake spice, chocolate and coffee beans.
Enjoy with lamb shanks, slow-cooked in red wine with rosemary, thyme and cracked black pepper.
