Intense garnet, the nose immediately reveals red cherry and prune characters intermingled with earthy, gamey notes, with some decanting time expanding into smoke, woodspice, forest floor and hay, with herbal and floral elements such as rosehip and lavender. The palate is rich and concentrated but defined by elegance – smooth and layered with melt-in-the-mouth tannins and a long, meandering finish.
Les Poulettes is a single plot on the hillside south of Nuits St Georges and a prized 1er Cru of this world famous appellation.
At its peak 6 to 8 years after bottling.
