Domaine Gachot-Monot Chambolle Musigny 2016

Medium bodied but rich and intense in colour and on the palate, intermingled notes of strawberry, blackberry and prune, savoury notes of leather and black tea, and delightful herbal and floral elements in a tight, elegant frame of supple tannins and gentle acidity. This is defined by its elegance and minerality – you can almost taste the stones in the vineyard.

A very special cuvée from four small parcels of Pinot Noir in Chambolle-Musigny. At its peak 6 to 8 years after bottling.

  • Rich, complex, elegant
  • 750ml

Producer: Domaine Gachot-Monot

Five successive generations have been at the head of this family run estate situated in Corgoloin on the border of Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The recent history is highlighted by two women who contributed to the domaine’s longevity: Marguerite Monot, who ran the vineyard alone from 1950 to 1980, and her only daughter Marie Therese, who, with the help of her husband Jean Pierre Gachot, renovated, replanted and gave their name to the Domaine. Marie Therese's son Damien now runs Domaine Gachot-Monot with his Danish wife, Liselotte.

The vineyard today covers about 18 hectares mainly planted with Pinot Noir and is entirely cultivated according to a philosophy of respect for the soil and the vine, with vinification following Burgundian traditions to reveal and reflect the subtleties of the soils. The wines sell out every vintage, carefully bottled at the estate's own winery after 14 to 16 months maturing in oak barrels and released on allocation around 6 months later.
