Oh now this is just gorgeous. Fully organic and vegan Verdejo from Rueda upstarts, Diez Siglos, this jumped straight onto our list of favourite all-round whites.
Taken from the organic Pago del Saltamontes vineyard situated 800 metres above sea level, the grapes are harvested during the night and allowed to free run (without mechanised crushing) before cold fermentation on the lees. This gentlest of approaches to winemaking results in a wine of wonderful softness, richness and purity of expression, bursting with ripe pear and sweet tropical fruits, hints of pineapple and galia melon, with a gentle acidity and rounded finish. It’s just delightful.
