Collefrisio Vignaquadra Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2020

23.00

Description

Organically-farmed Collefrisio, the project of third-generation winemakers Amedeo De Luca and Antonio Patricelli, is located in the hills of Frisa, Chieti province.

Vignaquadra is made from 100% Montepulciano fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel and oak barrels.

You can taste the toasty new oak overlying the uber-rich fruit — think blueberry pie, black cherry jam, liquorice, clove and vanilla extract. Huge density, weight and length — mighty stuff.

Decant for two hours and try with harissa-crusted rack of lamb.

Organically-farmed Collefrisio, the project of third-generation winemakers Amedeo De Luca and Antonio Patricelli, is located in the hills of Frisa, Chieti province. The charming azienda vinicola (wine farm) features a huge loft nestled among the vineyards that contains a magnificent wine tasting and dining room for the many epicurean events that Collefrisio runs over the year, while its quiet, peaceful cellars lie underneath the vines.

Indigenous Montepulciano and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo are the stars here, alongside high quality Pinot Grigio, and a range of more artisinal, small production wines including Appassimento, sparkling wines of Abruzzo and an intriguing wine and sour cherry liqueur.
