The origin of the English term ‘Claret’ to refer to red wines from Bordeaux but not the same, Clairet is in fact a specialty of Bordeaux and is not red but dark pink, like a really dark rosé. They’re typically young, like this example, fruity and refreshing, and chillable as you would a normal rosé.
A blend of Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon from fully organic vineyards, this is gorgeously inviting on the nose, full of ripe red berry notes, pomegranate, roses and peonies. The palate is dry and slightly creamy, with nice tannic and acid structure to hold together the sweet berries, raspberry and strawberry, with redcurrant jelly and more of those delightful floral notes.
