Ask for a wine that best demonstrates Bordeaux terroir and we’ll show you this. The purity and focus is exceptional, ripe summer fruits framed by impeccable tannic and acid structure, this is what Bordeaux does best.
Third generation Géraldine Lopez took over the reins of Château Lagrugère in 2010 and immediately started the process of organic conversion on 40 hectares of vineyards. This 60/40 blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon is the result of that.
Vibrant ruby in colour with a lovely depth, the nose on this jumps right out at you, a heady swirl of morello cherry, wild strawberry, roses and violets. The textural frame is superb, firm tannins that quickly dissolve in the mouth under a summer fruit bowl of strawberry, blackberry and rhubarb flavours, with refreshing piquancy from redcurrant and sour cherry notes, all set on a minerally base like you’re sucking wet stones dipped in fruit compôte. Truly top class, affordable Claret.
