The 8.34 hectare Bel-Air vineyard, owned by the Dubard family of Bergerac, is located in Puisseguin Saint Émilion where the soils can be distinguished by their high limestone content. The ‘satellite’ areas of Lussac and Puisseguin produce wines that are virtually impossible to tell apart from Saint Émilion proper and so often provide exceptional value for money.
The label, which was designed by the Dubard family, refers to the Sacred Heart’s medallion, present on the church of the village, to which was added Puisseguin’s motto in latin “Surgam et Ibo” (which in English means “I will stand up and go”).
With 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet franc from vines of an average age of 26 years old, this is a charming wine full of ripe blueberry and plum fruit supported by toasty oak. The palate is ample, with firm tannins giving great structure.
