Stéphane Berg ‘Cuvée Exceptionelle’ Pinot Blanc 2017

13.99

Description

A gorgeously delicate white from one of the most underrated and most underpriced regions in wine. Gentle and supple, with gorgeous stone fruit aromas and a textured, off-dry palate that has soft acidity and lovely rich notes of yellow apple, white peach and patisserie. Fleshy and tender, with an easy drinking, amiable personality.

Beautiful to enjoy on its own but would be sublime with sashimi or hot oysters.

The small Orschwiller - Kintzheim winery, created in 1957 has become a wine cooperative of 80 wine growers, with a focus on sustainability. Located in the heart of Alsace, in Orschwiller, Kintzheim and Saint Hippolyte, the vineyards benefit from good sun exposure and offer a diversity of soils. Among those soils are the slopes of the Grand cru Praelatenberg, which belonged in 823 to the prelates of Ebersmunster, offering fruity and aromatic Riesling and Gewurztraminer.

Using traditional wine-making methods and cutting-edge equipment, the company aims to preserve the aromatic potential of the wines by keeping them all year long at a controlled temperature of 13°C and this is coupled with a long standing commitment to sustainability and carbon footprint reduction, making bottles and packaging from recycled glass and fibres. In 2013, the wines were awarded 27 gold medals in different European wine competitions.
