Castelo de Medina is a top Rueda winery, with its own venerable vineyards and cutting-edge technology founded by three wine lovers in 1996 in a small Valladolid town called Villaverde de Medina in Castilla y León. It has benefited from a generous financial investment from part owner Freixenet which has modernised production methods whilst still keeping the historical winemaking traditions of the region. Carmen Blanco and Sara Román are the winemakers crafting expressive sometimes complex wines from Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Viura, of which 180 hectares are dedicated from vines planted in the 1970's.
