Barrel aged Pinot Noir from the Oberpfoeller vineyard in Mittelbergheim, Alsace.
The organic Oberpfoeller vineyard in Mittelbergheim contains Pinot Noir vines over 40 years old. Grapes are manually harvested, steel fermented and aged in oak barrels (15% new) for 10 months.
Pale brick red in colour, there’s an initial burst of summer berries on the nose, loganberry, cherry and damson, with trademark Pinot hints of leather, game and dusty forest floor. Bright, tangy red fruits open on the palate, a clean acidic line softening with silky tannins and a layer of savoury, autumnal characters, dried meats with hints of truffle, liquorice and dried herbs.
It’s a fine Pinot that will age comfortably for 10 years from vintage. Enjoy with game or slow-roasted pork, or mature cheeses, patés and terrines.
