Brandluft is a source of great pride for Jean-Daniel and Thomas Boeckel, as it was their great grandfather, over one hundred years ago, that identified the quality of the terroir and acquired the majority of vineyard area in the prized lieu-dit. Only Riesling is grown here and the Boeckel vines are organically farmed.
Refined, poised and balanced, it’s a serious drop made with weight and layering. Silvery-gold in appearance with some viscosity on the glass, the nose is redolent of a wild flower meadow in summer, apple blossom and geranium intricately underlaid with stone fruit and honey. The palate is crisp and steely, crunchy green apple giving way to lime curd with sweet suggestions of pineapple and apricot, on a minerally mid-palate that glides to a clean, rounded finish.
This will handle meaty fish like lobster or monkfish magnificently, but will star equally well alongside a fine cheese and charcuterie platter.
