Malbec performs very well in Langhorne Creek and has been planted by Bleasdale since 1961. Since the international boom in the grape following its success in Argentina, many Australian winemakers are belatedly taking an interest, but Bleasdale are 50+ years ahead of the curve here with these old vines producing richly flavoured and well structured fruit.
Fermented for up to two weeks, the young wine goes into French oak hogsheads for 9 months to produce a full bodied and complex red, showing vibrant primary fruit flavours of plums, red berries and spices, finishing soft and round with velvety smooth tannins.
