Grapes for this Pinot Blanc come from a mix of old and young vineyards in Appenheimer Eselspfad and Gau-Algesheim’s St. Laurenzikapelle, where sandy loess and shell limestone characterise the soils. The grapes are harvested by hand according to ripeness, gently crushed in the winery and left to stand in their own juice, then fermented with wild yeasts in a combination of stainless steel and oak barrels, and bottled in the spring after 4 months on the lees.
Floral and fruity on the nose, with sweet wafts of pineapple, peach and apple blossom, the palate is lithe and minerally, soft pear and melon fruit with hints of herbs and a touch of spice. Juicy and fresh with a dry, elegant finish.
