The grapes for this Pinot Noir come from 30 year old vineyards in the Appenheimer Eselspfad site, characterised by limestone and sandy loam.
Grapes are selectively harvested by hand, then destemmed and fermented with wild yeasts in open vats. The crushing of the must is done almost exclusively by hand. After fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels and is then bottled unfiltered.
Bright ruby red in colour, this is a classically elegant Pinot Noir, with fine aromas of red berry fruits and a hint of vanilla. Long on the palate with a real freshness to the fruit, red cherries and ripe plum dominate, with delicate tannins and a dry, smooth, clean finish.
