Abadia do Seixo Albariño 2022

20.75

Description

The vineyards of Pazo de Villarei cling to the slopes of the Val do Salnés, between Arousa and Pontevedra, chosen long ago by the Celts for their unbeatable location for wine growing. Abadia do Seixo is made in the classic-modern style of Rías-Baixas, 100% Albariño cool-fermented in stainless steel.

Bracing, rejuvenating style, with intense, mouthwatering pink grapefruit, orange peel and sea salt flavours. Fresh, tangy and zingy — classic Galicia.

Lively aperitif and perfect partner for all things seafood — grilled squid with lemon, garlic and cumin, anyone?

Producer: Pazo de Villarei

Pazo de Villarei, with its Celtic knot motif, pays tribute to the Celts who first inhabited this north-west corner of Spain over two thousand years ago and would be credited with the first wine-growing in the region. 80 hectares of vineyards extend along the Salnés Valley, in the heart of Rias Baixas, primarily young vines less than 20 years old, and divided in various plots located between the estuaries of Arosa and Pontevedra on the River Umia. The banks of the Umia provide a shallow and sandy soil with the micro-climates within the vineyards perfect for growing; quite mild all year-round but particularly in the summer, a long ripening period allows full development of aromas and flavours, with rich textures that define the Villarei wines.
