Vignerons des Pierres Dorées (literally, “winegrowers of the golden stones”) is a cooperative of winegrowers covering the southwest of Beaujolais, about 40km north of Lyon and directly south of Burgundy’s famed Côte-d’Or. They’ve a tasting room in Oingt, a settlement that began as a Roman castrum and restored during the last century to be regarded today as one of the most beautiful villages in France, the houses and streets here characterised by the very golden stones that make up the surrounding vineyards.
