Mills Reef

Mills Reef Winery was founded in 1989 by the Preston family, and has gone on to establish itself as one of New Zealand’s leading boutique wine brands. The vineyards are located in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand’s oldest winegrowing region, where they grow internationally acclaimed full-bodied red wines of Bordeaux varietals and Syrah, within the famous stony Gimblett Gravels. The winery is often acclaimed as one of the most stylish in the country, with an Art Deco style fine dining restaurant and can be found on spacious landscaped grounds in the city of Tauranga. The wines speak of place, natural character, and ‘balance’ in composition, crafted under three tiers, each with its own distinctive style philosophy suited to differing occasions.

The award-winning winemaking team is led by Tim Preston and Paul Dawick who apply their considerable talents to make Mills Reef wines what they are today. An uncompromising pursuit of excellence has garnered Mills Reef a worldwide reputation, reflected in their many awards, including over 900 medals and 30 trophies in national and international competitions, along with having the honour of being twice-recipients of the prestigious New Zealand winemaker of the year award.
