Founded in 1850, Domaine Éric Gelly is a seventh generation family estate and winery. The domaine covers 48 hectares of vineyards in the Côtes de Thongue, a small and relatively new IGP between Beziers and Montepellier on France’s south coast.
All wines are from within the 48 hectares, with Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay planted alongside more niche varietals such as Vermentino, Marselan and Gewurztraminer. As with many independent producers in this small IGP, quality and value are the focus in lieu of appellation status. A new winery in 2010 and an ambitious biodiversity programme adopted by growers across the Côtes de Thongue supports this continued focus on quality, sustainability and growing reputation of the region.
