Château Maucoil has a long history stretching back to Roman times when the property was used as an army fortress for Caesar’s legions, and winegrowing is documented back to the construction of the surviving castle built in 1624.
Acquired by the Lavau family in 2013, the 45 hectares of vines in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation have been tended organically since 2011, and in 2014 the entire estate gained biodynamic certification. A broad variety of grapes are grown across the vineyards, representing the wide range of traditional grapes for both red and white Châteauneuf du Pape and premium Côtes-du-Rhône.
