Just 60 km from Madrid in the province of Toledo, located in the village of Nobleja stands Viñedos y Bodegas Muñoz which farms 400 hectares of gnarled old vines, with an average age of 40 years. Its wine making facilities include 1,500 ageing barrels and a state-of-the-art bottling line that ensures clean, fruity wines. Bienvenido Muñoz Pollo, agricultural engineer and master in oenology and viticulture heads up the management of this winery, which has focused its production on quality wines under D.O La Mancha and V.T de Castilla Today, the third generation of the family lives on the estate, above the 17th-century cellar where the best of Muñoz wines enjoy a “calm, transcendental” period of maturation.
